Love yourself and be comfortable in your own skin, as the problem isn’t with your body, but with how you perceive yourself.
Hi, I’m Philip. I’m a final year music student. I enjoy making music, badminton, art exhibitions and a good hotpot!
I think this project is amazing, because I believe it’s tackling a very important issue today and it’s a necessity to discuss and confront. In today’s world there so many influences which give unrealistic beauty standards, or preach what should be the norm, when everyone is actually very unique and has their own story to tell. I believe sharing is the first step towards building confidence in ourselves.
Growing up, I was ‘skinny’ and underweight due to my high metabolism and genetics, and this was seen in a negative light. I was percieved as unhealthy, through cultural means and through the people around me. I also had pretty bad eczema around my face and body, and when I was younger especially I would hide it by wearing glasses, affecting my self-esteem.
Right now, at this point of time I have come to have more confidence in myself and I would like to help other people find theirs. What I believe is a positive body image is to have love for yourself, and to be comfortable in your own skin, as the problem isn’t with your body but with how you perceive yourself!
