Mind Over Body is an inclusive body positivity platform run by students of Bangor University which aims to help individuals deconstruct where negative self-perceptions come from through the power of story sharing and having open discussions, with the goal of increasing people’s confidence and self-esteem as well as establishing common grounds within our community.
By creating an inclusive and diverse community, we aim to promote the acceptance of all bodies, and aim to educate people on the intersection between body positivity and other different social issues, such as discrimination on the basis of race, gender, sexuality, age, and disability. Through this, we aim to help people recognise and challenge prejudice and stigma.
We aim to achieve this in three different ways:
- using tailored workshops
- focus group settings to promote self-expression
- our website and social media platforms
We are working towards two Sustainable Development Goals: Good health and well-being (SDG 3) and Gender equality (SDG 4).
The society we live in can make it extremely hard to be comfortable with your body and accepting of yourself, but Mind Over Body hopes to change that.
